Youth Ministry St. David's is pleased to have both Alec Carlsen and Ashley Waldron as our Youth Ministers. Both Ashley and Alec have been members of the church all their lives and are extremely excited about the upcoming year. Ashley and Alec are planning events throughout the year for both the Junior High (Grades 6 - 8) and the Senior High (Grades 9 - 12) youth group as well as a curriculum for the Senior High Sunday School classes meeting after Sunday masses.
St. David’s Youth Mission Trip 2011
The Youth Group had a tremendously successful trip to Scranton, PA June 18-25. There were some 300 students and leaders from all across the country including several congregations from Illinois. They stayed at Marywood University, a catholic university that supplied dorm rooms, a lot of room for outdoor activities, and a fantastic cafeteria!
This year's theme was "Connect," taken from John 15:5, "I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in me, and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."
Monday through Friday they worked on different houses doing a variety of jobs including painting, building wheelchair ramps, building new steps and porches, roofing, and even sealing driveways! As part of an afternoon off they took a tour of a coal mine.
