February Events

Bishop Lee's Challenge's The Deacons of the Diocese have created a program to collect donations and forward the money to Episcopal Relief and Development.  A gift card will be given to every person who donates a uniform, one card for each $12 donated.  These gift cards tell the recipient of the card that a child will attend school next year because of a donation made in their honor.  Cards can be used to celebrate birthdays, Valentine's Day, or any special occasion.  Contribution envelopes are available in the church, or you may make a donation of any denomination by calling the church office directly.  Checks should be made payable to St. David's Episcopal Church with "school uniforms" noted in the memo line.

A thank you from Luigi and the Mrs.   Thank you to all who helped at this year's Luigi Dinner.  The response to our soliciting help was terrific!  We expecially liked seeing some new faces prepping, serving, cleaning, and attending.  It was great to have the "experienced" staff step in and do what they have done before and be agreeable to try new positions.  We have said it before, this couldn't happen without the support of each of you and for this we are truly grateful.  Thanks again!  Tom & Bonnie

There is a jar at the back of the church to donate loose change which will be sent to Haiti.

St. Anne's will have dinner out on Thursday, February 11th at 6:30 p.m.  We will meet at Gusto Italiano Restaurant, 1470 Waukegan, Glenview, in Carillon Square.  Please contact the office if you are interested in attending.

The 3rd and 4th grade church school class will have their annual Chocolate Sale on Sunday, February 14th before and after the 9:30 service.  Your chocolate baked goods and treats would be a welcome addition to our sale.  Items may be dropped off in the undercroft on Saturday, February 13th or before the 9:30 service on Sunday, February 14th.  Please decoratively wrap and label all items especially if they contain nuts.  All proceeds will benefit the Northfield Township Food Pantry.

Sunday, February 14:  Absalom Jones Day Celebration:   "Setting the Captives Free."  Guest speaker/preacher:  JoAnne Marie Terrell.  3:00 p.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 3801 S. Wabash Ave., Chicago.  Sponsored by the Union of Black Episcopalians Chicago Chapter.

Do you have a special skill that would qualify you to help the boy scouts of Troop 32 obtain merit badges?  We need a nurse or a doctor to help with the First Aid Merit Badge, as well as someone to help with Auto Mechanics, Nuclear Science, bird study, cooking, dentistry, dog care, electronics, gardening, insect study, music, or photography.  There are dozens of merit badges available so if you have an interest please call the office.

Sign up for the St. David's Dinner Club  on the board in the Narthex!

Don't forget to RSVP to the Dinner Dance being held on February 27th.  If you did not receive your invitation in the mail (or your church mailbox if you have one), please see an usher.  If you have an item that you would like to donate for our silent auction, please contact the office.

Look for the red wagon in the Narthex to use for your non-food contributions for the Northfield Township Food Pantry recipients.  We truly appreciate your generosity in this ongoing endeavor for the needy.  If you would add just one extra item each time you are making household purchases, then drop it off in the wagon, together we will make a difference.

Donations for Lawrence Hall  As the season of Spring arrives, these kids sure could use our help!  The following items are requested at this time:  sports items:  kites, Frisbees, volleyballs, footballs.  Craft Items:  crayons, papers, paste, scrap booking items.  Other items:  DVDs, deodorant, white socks, baby bottles, baby blankets.  A market box will be in the Narthex for your donation items.  Barely used or new preferred.  Thank you for your ongoing support of this outreach!

Please remember to drop off your unused eyeglasses at the church office or place them in the box in the Narthex.  Thank you for supporting Volunteer Optometric Services to Humanity (VOSH)!

Altar Flowers:  Remember a special occasion or a loved one by donating altar flowers.  Please pick up a form at the ushers table or call the church office at 847-724-1341.
